Kebony® façades win twice

Kebony® façades won in two categories at the 2018 Surface Design Awards. The awards recognize the most innovative design and use of materials in construction projects on an international scale. Assessment criteria include the material used, the type of surface and the aesthetic design of the project.

The award for "Sustainable Exterior Surface" went to Kebony® and the architecture firm Arches for the wood cladding of the modern, eco-friendly "Valley Villa" in Lithuania. The second award – in the Housing Exterior Surface category – went to Kebony and architects David Stanley and Romy Grabosch for a design in London: the modern extension of a residential building adorned with an exceptional carbon-fiber Kebony® trim panel from the English company Shou Sugi Ban.

Kebony’s success story is underpinned by two additional awards: in 2016 it received the ICONIC Award in the “Façade” category from the German Design Council for being the best product. In 2017 Kebony won the Woody Award from GD Holz in the category "Innovative Product" and the "Architecture + Construction Innovation Award".

Kebony® is high-quality, sustainable real wood with a 30-year warranty. Its outstanding features are due to an environmentally-friendly modification process: durable, sturdy, easy to care for and beautiful, Kebony offers a sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood, which is ideal for outdoor flooring and façades. In 2017, Kebony® Clear decking boards 22 x 142 mm were the first modified wood ever to receive building regulations approval (abZ) for load-bearing construction.
